DESCRIPTION:Ready For Living\, Neighbourhood Support and Heartland Services/Connected Eastern Southland are partnering to host a scams prevention session to educate the community on keeping safe both in their digital\, and personal spaces. \nPeople in New Zealand are losing millions of dollars to scammers each year – and this is just the figures reported to Netsafe so the actual figure is likely much higher. \nIn the lead up to Christmas retail period the opportunity for scamming increases. \nWe are hosting an informative and interactive seminar with representatives from Inland Revenue\, ANZ Bank\, Neighbourhood Support and Gore Police about what common scams look like\, what to be aware of and how to protect yourself\, and also what to do if you or someone you know has been a victim of a scam. \nWe will provide morning tea\, resources for attendees to take away\, and an informal chat with a rep session at the conclusion of the main presentations.
